Tim Shatto originally started his business out of his house in January 2001 with just one work truck and two employees and has now grown to eight work trucks and 18 employees. Even with the growth of his business, Shatto still remembers the name of his very first customers, Richard and Vivian Spangler of Lake Butler.
Prior to opening his own business, Shatto garnered up 10 years of experience in the air conditioning field running the commercial department at Mid-Florida Heating and Air and working for Robinson Heating and Air, who incidentally once occupied the building Shatto is currently housed in. That building started out as a fuel store many years ago run by Lowell Shadd.
Even supporting other local businesses has always been something Shatto has done. The company frequents Jackson's Building Supply, the Lake Butler Farm Center and even the Sunrise Store where he fills up his trucks with fuel.
Shatto also supports the local school programs such as the annual Back-to-School-Bash, the football program and the Lake Butler FFA.
Shatto Heating and Air prides itself on providing not only timely, but quality, well-trained staff to its customers.
"Our service department has more than 20 years experience in trouble-shooting all brands of HVAC equipment, said service manager Rob Jarvis. The department is NATE certified by the state of Florida with trained professionals who are ready to fix a/c problems right the first time.
One great thing about Shatto's service work is that they provide flat rate pricing as opposed to the hourly rate charged by most heating and air businesses. With flat rate pricing, customers will know the cost before the work has begun, Jarvis said. Shatto keeps not only their economical units but also Trane Company units in stock for any sudden emergencies.
New construction manager Jason Shadd oversees new residential and commercial jobs. Most of Shadd's work stretches out through North Florida and includes their specialty of installing new systems in apartments in the Gainesville and Lake City areas, motels in Jacksonville, Lake City and Palm Coast, and churches such as Victory Christian Center in Lake Butler and Sardis Baptist Church in Worthington Springs.
Shatto Heating and Air is also the HVAC contractor for PRIDE Enterprises, the company that provides vocational training for inmates within the state of Florida prison system.
Shatto is set up to provide and take care of all homeowner and general contractor needs, offering free estimates and providing load calculations for permitting.
"We design and install all of our own ductwork," Shadd said. Both he and Shatto take pride in knowing the company has experienced, well-trained employees who provide the manpower needed to complete jobs in a timely manner.
